About the Docs
Doctor Donovan is a Naturopathic Physician, author and educator. He has over 30 years of patient-care experience. He currently maintains a robust private practice at his integrated medical clinic, theUHC, in Seattle, Washington and is a professor of clinical medicine at Bastyr University. In his naturopathic medical practice, he diagnoses, treats and co-manages patients with various chronic health problems that include heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and other chronic inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.Dr. Donovan also writes and lectures on the transformational process of healing. He believes a person's healing journey is ultimately a quest for his/her identity, purpose and meaning. In his clinical practice, Dr. Donovan assists his patients in discovering the theme of their healing quest while providing for them the medical, nutritional and lifestyle therapies and guidance necessary to complete their individual journey.
He has written two books, The Face of Consciousness: A Guide to Self-Identity and Healing and Dancing With The Beloved: Resurrecting Divine Sexuality Through Profound Relatedness. The Face of Consciousness, written with Dr. Joiner-Bey, was a finalist in the 2007 Nexus Books Awards and is considered a "masterpiece of integration that explores the underlying principles of the transformational process of healing." It has been called "a bold and imaginative work"...that is "penetrating to the core of the question that confronts us all: Who are we? What are we?"
Dr. Herb Joiner-Bey is a unique voice for holistic living and healing. Dr. Joiner-Bey serves as an adjunct professor in naturopathic medicine, as well as a medical/scientific consultant in the nutriceutical industry. He has conducted acclaimed seminars for health professionals and the public across the US and the UK. He is a regular guest speaker on radio programs nationwide. Dr. Joiner-Bey inspires his audiences to apply in their daily lives the principles of evidence-based natural medicine for enhanced vitality and longevity. He blends the time-honored healing traditions of diverse cultures with the latest insights of modern scientific inquiry. He is the author/co-author of several books in this field (The Healing Power of Flax; Clinician’s Handbook of Natural Medicine 2nd ed.; The Omega-3 Miracle; Water: The Foundation of Youth, Health, and Beauty) and scores of magazine articles. Dr. Joiner-Bey received a B.A. degree in Physics from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and an N.D. degree (Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine) from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington.
